All for you
It's floor was frozen glass
You slip into my arms
And you quickly correct yourself
Your freezing speech bubbles
Seem to hold your words aloft
I want the smoky clouds of laughter
To swim about me forever more
I will race you to the waterside
And from the edge I'll shout out loud
So you could hear it wherever you are
It's all for you
The shells crack under our shoes
Like punctuation points
The planets bend between us
A hundred million suns and stars
The sea filled in this silence
Before you sank those words
And now even in the darkness
I can see how happy you are

EU ban limiting junior doctors to 48-hour working week lifted over public health concerns
European rules insisting junior doctors work only a 48-hour week have been lifted for at least 50 hospitals.
Britain has been granted a temporary reprieve after health chiefs claimed the EU Working Time Directive might put patient safety at risk.
Doctors at 38 trusts which have been granted permission to derogate from the rules will be allowed to work 52 hours a week averaged over six months until 2011.
The extra hours will only apply to certain specialties such as obstetrics and paediatrics at the hospitals involved, not all junior doctors working there.
The Royal College of Surgeons earlier this week argued that the 48-hour week was interfering with patient care in the NHS, and might be putting patients at risk.
Two thirds of the 900 NHS surgeons surveyed said quality of care had become worse since the introduction of the new working week, while most said doctors were being forced to break the rules to protect patients.
Under the old system, junior hospital doctors would often work 80-hour weeks - which doctors' leaders claimed also endangered patients because they were being treated by tired medics.
In August rules were imposed limiting their working week to 48 hours.
National Clinical Advisor for European Working Time Directive Dr Wendy Reid said most doctors' rotas in NHS hospitals were already complying with the 48-hour week rule.
But she acknowledged that others could not safely cut back hours at present.
She said: 'I am pleased that the overwhelming majority of UK doctors in training are compliant with the working time directive as we know that this will improve patient safety and their work life balance.
'People will remember the stories of junior doctors working 80-hour week and it is great news that these days are gone.
'Patient safety is our top priority in the NHS. We have always said that we would keep the situation under close review and where there is a genuine need for extra time to safely implement the directive we would allow derogation.
'A very small number of services have made this request in order to effectively implement plans and be able to sustain them by 2011.
'The UK remains absolutely committed to enabling all junior doctors to work and train safely, in compliance with the working time directive.'
Dr Shree Datta, chairman of the British Medical Association's Junior Doctors Committee, said: 'We recognise the need for pragmatism in cases where the safe delivery of patient care cannot be guaranteed within a 48-hour week.
'However, there is an urgent need to rethink how junior doctors work and train.
'This is not a new EU rule suddenly imposed on the NHS this year. Trusts have known the Working Time Directive was coming for over ten years, and it is worrying to find that some are so poorly prepared.
'The crux of the matter is that hospitals must work with doctors to find solutions which avoid disruption to patient services, and maintain the quality of training.'

routine
Anywho, doing CVS all over again. And again. So annoying. We are supposed to be on HLB (heart lungs & blood) but all the cases in the A&E are either MSK or minor cuts. Stupid. Plus we had a 2-hour session this morning on CNS (?!!!) so yea.
Been busy scanning Ebay and Amazon lately for cheap stuff. My phone silicon case arrived so that's good. Only 2pounds compared to Dom's 20-pound one?? Lol. Gonna buy 120mm films for the Diana F+ camera as well. Since only black&whites are available at the moment in camera shops in Manchester.
Ah well. Dinner time.

this is it
The new song. Album coming out on the 26th of October. Funny how people get shot to Godlike status only after their death. Singers, composers, artists....but I guess this is how the human race is. Not appreciating what they have till it's gone.

role-play
So with the weekends drawing to a close, I'm staring at another week of night shifts at the Emergency Dept. Why do the interesting cases happen when I'm not around? .............yea I typed a paragraph there before deciding that I shouldn't discuss cases. Confidentiality issues and what-nots.
Anywho just miss KL quite alot. Life in Msia (though with much slower internet zzz) was better in a sense of, well, belonging, gf and fooooooddddd. Suddenly having the huge urge to eat mamak food and rot. Oh and playing poker too haha. Imagine winning 100 POUNDS instead of RM100. Problem is not enough people over that who will want to play with cash plus it is quite a pain in the gluteus to walk from one house to another at night.
Scene in Vista:
A: Friend, wanna poker or not wor?
B: Like that ah. Your place is it?
A: My place lor, where else? My place got more people here already mah don't need go far far.
B: Sien. Ok la I bring RM50 to throw can? Give me 5 minute I take the lift. I put on my T-shirt I go straight.
Scene in Preston:
A: Hey wanna play poker or not?
B: Hmm. No money la, RM convert to pounds can die wei.
A: Aiyoh just play with pennies la! I very the sien.
B: Your house so far away though.
A: WTF it is just 5 minutes away!
B: Dude need to walk in the 3-degree weather ok. Need to put on my vest, and my sweater, and my windbreaker, and my long pants, then wear gloves, then wear scarf, then wear socks and then wear shoes. Then go your house need take off shoes, take off socks, take off scarf, take off gloves, take off sweater, take off windbreaker I tired liao lor. Sien.
So there you have it. Problems faced. Though it will be nice just to buy a packet of cards first over here haha.

the itch
And the electricity bill just came and it is 33pounds.
And we decided to upgrade our broadband to the highest package possible cuz its just a tad more and we wouldn't be affected by peak-hour limits. Coolness. Just streamed HIMYM Season 5, saves me the trouble of downloading series and taking up space on my harddisk.
Ahh how nice if flights from UK to Msia just takes 2 or 3 hours...I'll probably fly there every weekend heh.

the only exception
Go view his blog to see him rant bout PBL haha.
Weekends are coming again. Perfectly timed as well. Might be making a trip down to Manchester. Weather is getting cold now. Highs of 13 deg celsius and lows of 2. Brrr. Take in account the winds blowing right in your face as well and you will get probably 0 or lower. Ah what fun. Or so the IMU people think. It ain't fun man. PBLs here are worse than over there. Emergency dept is not as glamorous as you think as well.
Speaking of studying...have not touched anything except for my 1st PBL on I.E and cardiac failure. Other than that just playing games, watching movies and streaming series, thinking of what to cook for lunch and dinner like a housewife and last but definitely not least, Skyping with the baby :) Haha my mum was so cool bout it as well when she asked me over the phone if I missed my gf, and reminding me to call her (gf, not mum) as well. Way ahead of ya mum hee.

Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix
PBL is a bitch. And Manchester is super PBL-pro, I think they are one of the PBL pioneers. Just my luck eh. Thank goodness for IMU notes that Dom brought over from KL, and luckily I just bought a 3-in-1 printer, so just photocopy and voila! PBL done. Lol. Well not really, cuz apparently people here don't bring notes or books into PBL sessions, so still need to read and memorize all the shitty patho and drugs of heart failure, infective endocarditis blablabla. Yes I am doing CVS, Respi and Haemato all over again. Hello Sem2/3.
Paramore's new album brand new eyes is sweeeeetttt. I think it is much better than Muse this time around. Whether you are a fan of rock, or Paramore, or neither, it still is a must buy. Or download, whichever. Nice tunes plus the lyrics are meaningful as well not to mention Hayley William's monster voice.

Oh and Happy 7 Months my hunnybear *hugs I love you tonnes!
Let's drive into the distance and never look back :)Now where can I siphon 1200pounds to fund my air tickets to and from KL.

A&E
Missing the gf who is in the midst of a crazy exam week. Really hope she does well in it. My exams are still miles away so yea haha. All I'm doing is waiting for new albums to be released and new games to come out as well. The only annoying thing now is that we need to keep a freaking portfolio. Not only is this going to be our C.V - which is fair enough - but also if it is unsatisfactory we will not even pass our 5th year. Wtf.

Autumn calling

Updates. Had a BBQ/housewarming thing at our place 2 weeks ago with all the chicken and pork and lamb and most importantly BEER baby beer!! And fucking disgusting cider urgh. So my house of Dom, Daniel and I together with Teong Rhen's house and Kheng Siong's housemates turned up for a freezing night in the garden. Beer keeps us warm. SO FALSE. Maybe vodka would've helped. And me new phone :) Sweeter still haha. Free phone with a contract of 30pounds a month.
I need to find a way to make more cash.

Looking for a way out
Having a headache deciding when and how to go back to Malaysia then to Brunei. Damn it lar I need to teman my sister to go back as well making things more difficult. Maybe I'll just take a week off classes and fly back to M'sia during October. Now to save some cash for the tickets. Hopefully there will be cheap promo tickets hmm, which at the moment is all sold out. Sucks.
Emirates having return tickets for <500pounds. Tempting, tempting indeed. Whatever it takes to get me back to KL even if it's just for a week. Need. Girlfriend. Introduction week has begun. Filled with communication classes with are a fucken waste of time zzz. And we had a ONE HOUR lecture on pushing and pulling and how to turn wheelchairs around the corner, and another hour on how to pick boxes up the proper way. Oh Brits.
People here are good. Haven't been to the pub yet but all the events organised by the Student Council here are held at the pub so maybe one of these nights I might just go and have a few pints. Since my NHS hospital card doesn't show my D.O.B so I can't buy alcohol from the stores. 3 more weeks of 'introduction week', which runs from 9am till 5pm. Terrible terrible.
Been adjusting to the timezone quite well and knowing what times to call the gf hehe. Weather still holding up well. Currency is still like that and people are still converting. Had a game of futsal with the seniors here in Preston; most of them are already F1, F2 and even specialist training already. Gosh so far ahead they even have their own cars here -_-
I just want to finish these 3 years haha. And survive it.
